In addition to our academic collaborations, the Department of Medical Diagnostics maintains a significant industry partnership with Sysmex Corporation, a global leader in clinical laboratory diagnostic equipment and information systems.

This formal collaboration moves beyond general support, providing students with direct, hands-on experience using industry-standard technology.

Partnership Focus and Benefits

The core of our partnership with Sysmex focuses on equipping the Department to deliver superior practical education:

• State-of-the-Art Equipment: Sysmex supplied the Department with advanced, high-precision equipment necessary for teaching and research in two foundational areas of laboratory science:
  • Full Blood Count (FBC) Analysis: Modern automated haematology analysers for comprehensive blood cell counting and characterisation.
  • Coagulation Testing: Automated systems for measuring clotting times and factors, essential for diagnosing bleeding and thrombotic disorders.
     
• Sustained Training Support: The partnership extends to the consistent provision of necessary reagents and consumables to ensure uninterrupted, high-quality practical training for both undergraduate and postgraduate students. This collaboration bridges the gap between theoretical knowledge and professional practice. By training on the exact equipment used in major clinical laboratories worldwide, our students gain immediate, marketable proficiency and are better prepared to enter the workforce.
