KNUST Department of Medical Diagnostics Supports Clinical Training with Hospital Donations
The Department of Medical Diagnostics at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), under the leadership of its Head of Department, Dr. Michael Owusu, has extended its commitment to quality healthcare education through a donation exercise to two key health facilities in Kumasi.
On 7th April 2026, the Department presented essential items to St Michael’s Mission Hospital and Kumasi South Hospital to support the clinical training of Medical Laboratory Science students.
The donation forms part of the Department’s ongoing efforts to strengthen the practical training environment for students undertaking clinical rotations. By equipping partner hospitals with relevant resources, the initiative seeks to enhance hands-on learning and ensure that students acquire the competencies required to meet the demands of modern diagnostic healthcare.
Speaking during the presentation, Dr. Owusu emphasized the importance of collaboration between academia and healthcare institutions in training competent professionals. He noted that clinical training remains a cornerstone in medical diagnostics education, and such partnerships are essential in bridging the gap between theory and practice.
Representatives from both beneficiary hospitals expressed their appreciation to the Department for the timely support. They highlighted that the donated items would significantly contribute to improving service delivery and provide a better learning environment for students.
